The sub branch and shed constantly require funding in order to continue providing support for our members, and to that end we have been successful, thanks to our resident grant guru, Peter Cameron, in being awarded a grant to buy an Oxy-Viva medical oxygen resuscitator kit and another grant to partially fund a SawStop table saw. Both of these items will be welcome additions to the shed, and both in their own way will improve the safety of our members.
The Oxy-Viva provides the benefits of resuscitation, suction and oxygen therapy all in the one compact unit, and is an invaluable first aid device should one of our members suffer a serious health incident.
The SawStop Table Saws are the only Cabinet Saws that detect blade contact with skin, triggering the Stop Brake Technology. The blade carries a small electrical signal, which the safety system continually monitors. When skin contacts the blade, the signal changes because the human body is conductive. The change to the signal activates the safety system and fires the brake, stopping the blade in less than 5 milliseconds! Amazing technology that prevents even the breaking of the skin should a part of the body come in contact with the revolving saw blade. An invaluable safety tool in any woodworking shed.
