Monday 20th April 2026 was reveal day for the Carrara Community Centre’s Poppy Wall. The poppy Wall, mounted on the Nielsens Road side of the centre is to commemorate Anzac Day with many hundreds of hand crafted poppies and with the Veterans Support Group Men’s Shed logo as the centre piece. The logo was mounted on a circular board by the Men’s Shed and then given to the Centre so that it could be surrounded by poppie. This centre piece can then be taken off the poppy wall after Anzac Day and displayed in the community centre.

This project was the culmination of many hours of work crocheting the poppies by community centre volunteers, coordinated by Jelena Willis, the centre manager. The event attracted a good audience, along with dignitaries, Cr. Bob LaCastra, Angie Bell MP and members of the Veterans Support Group and Men’s Shed.
