One of the local surf clubs, via Greg from the Gold Coast Regional Beekeepers club, approached the Men’s Shed to restore an old plywood surf ski. This ski had been mounted on the surf club wall and used as an honour board for past surf club members. Our nautical team, Noah, B3 and others, proceeded to strip the ski of its old honours list, then take the ski back to bare plywood, patch up the seams and a few dings, and then re-stain it.
After many hours of stripping, sanding and seam repair, the ski, with the new shiny stained finish, is now ready for re-mounting on the wall for the next generation of surf club honour rolls. This project was yet another fine example of the combined skills to be found in our Men’s Shed.
